Blue Ridge Parkway News
Late winter...early spring!
We realize that many of you will be taking the Blue Ridge Parkway to our NC cabin rental and would like to remind you that the weather can change quickly during the first part of spring.
Winter can hang around in the Blue Ridge into April, especially at our elevation.
Early wildflowers are sometimes poking up through a skiff of snow, so be prepared for winter even
if you left home thinking spring had arrived for certain! Check road closures at (828) 298 0398
and always have a few extra clothes or emergency supplies when venturing into the mountains this
time of year.

Imagine waking in the morning to the sounds of nature.
Flowing streams, birds singing and the gentle footsteps of Whitetail deer comprise this symphony as the sun comes over the mountain filtering through the hemlocks, pines, maple, and oaks. |
Mornings at Lake Forest Cabins are a special time. Whether you decide to walk one of our scenic nature trails abundant with wildlife, feed the fish and duck at the private lake or take your coffee on the front porch overlooking the ridge line alive with the vibrant colors of fall, it's the perfect beginning to your day.
Afternoons can be spent picking apples and pears from our small lakeside orchard, shopping in historic downtown Spruce Pine, mining for emeralds at one of the area gem mines or just relaxing in the hammock under the trees with a good book.
Evenings are perfect for enjoying the lakeside picnic area as dinner is being prepared on the grill. Savor a glass of wine under a spectacular sunset of reds, yellows and oranges.
After dinner, take one last stroll around the lake as night falls.
